Romania has moved to mandatory electronic invoicing through the national e-Factura system, operated by ANAF via the SPV (Spatiul Privat Virtual). If your business issues or receives invoices in Romania, e-Factura is now part of your day-to-day compliance.

What is e-Factura?

e-Factura is a national e-invoicing platform where invoices are submitted as structured XML (based on the European EN 16931 standard and the RO_CIUS specification), validated by ANAF, and sealed with a ministry signature. A PDF alone is no longer enough for covered transactions.

Who has to comply?

  • B2G: invoices to public institutions were the first in scope.
  • B2B: resident taxpayers must send B2B invoices through e-Factura, with reporting deadlines after invoice issuance.
  • B2C: reporting has been extended progressively, so check the current rules for your activity.

Why it matters

Late or missing e-Factura submissions carry penalties, and buyers increasingly expect a valid e-Factura for deduction. Handling this by hand, invoice by invoice, does not scale.

Automating e-Factura

eDecont.ro syncs inbound e-Factura invoices, lets you upload your own, and exports compliant XML, so the mandate is handled inside the same tool you use for receipt scanning, ANAF validation and accounting exports. That keeps invoices, receipts and VAT reporting in one place.

If you want to spend less time on e-invoicing and more on your business, try eDecont.ro.
